Who needs an image under 200 KB?

200 KB is the classic photograph limit on competitive exam portals — application and admit-card systems for banking, civil-service and university entrance exams commonly cap the candidate's photo at 200 KB, and a signature scan often has its own smaller limit alongside it. The same figure appears on job-application portals, college e-admission forms and marketplace seller dashboards. At 200 KB there is enough room to keep a photo genuinely sharp, so when a form lets you choose, this is the preset that preserves the most detail. Drop your image in, press Process, and download a file that lands under the limit on the first try.

Questions

How do I compress an image to 200 KB or less?

Drop your image above — the target size is already set to 200 KB — and press “Process images”. ImgShrink lowers the quality step by step, and shrinks the dimensions too if quality alone is not enough, until the result fits under 200 KB.

The portal still rejects my photo even under 200 KB. Why?

Size is only one of the rules. Many portals also require specific pixel dimensions (for example 200 × 230 px) or JPG format only. Set the output format to JPG above, and if dimensions are specified, run the photo through the ImgShrink Resizer first, then compress it here.

Can I change the 200 KB target?

Yes — the target box is preset to 200 KB for this page, but you can type any size, or clear it to compress with the quality slider alone. For ready-made presets, see the 50 KB and 100 KB pages.
